A message from the director

Dr. Petros Malamidis
BSc, MSc, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, CB Hypnotherapist, MBPsS
Over the past few centuries, our 'modern' society has taught us to depend on our thoughts as our only weapon to deal with daily life challenges. We do not even realise that we have identified our acts, behaviours and feelings with our minds. In order to come to that realisation, a mind oriented process does not suffice. Mind, body and feelings should meet in a harmonious equilibrium.

Having lost the connection with anything real, a feeling that something is lacking emerges. Our unbalanced lives begin to alert us to the need for a change and the unpleasant feeling cannot be fulfilled by any form of reward, no matter what we call it. Perceiving that, is a form of suffering. A suffering that in clinical terms could lead to anxiety, depression and many other psychopathological manifestations.

We are trapped by our desires. Desires that our egotistic self continues to nurture even if our minds find a way to satisfy them. We are suffering the consequences of our civilisation. Regardless if we are psychologists or patients, we are all equal in terms of the world we live in, its challenges and our longings.

So, can that be acknowledged not merely by our mind? We do not even know what that acknowledgement means, as we were raised in an environment constantly claiming that it was our mind that succeeded in achieving things that not even our minds could believe were possible, yet the suffering is even stronger than before.

How can we let go? How can we find a way not to live in our thoughts that are constantly connected to the near or far past/future and start living in the present moment? What is the present moment and why is that so important?

A lot-of the above questions and many more are starving for an answer and there is indeed an answer. It is not hidden but we are hiding from it. Let us get rid of our masks and of anything that makes us feel superior. Let us strip ourselves of all the unnecessary extra clothes our psyche has been carrying for so many years. In a nutshell, let us be ourselves.
Grab our hand remembering that the path is yours to take. Your commitment is necessary and no matter the number of sessions, this is not where it all ends. The treatments are to be used as a tool for you to practise in your daily life and experience the change for yourself.

There is no better starting point than now.
Challenge yourself, care for yourself, embark on this journey!
The time is now.
